ICAN,
Increasing Capabilities Access Network, is a program of Arkansas
Rehabilitation Services. ICAN was set up to help build a bridge
between people with disabilities who need technology information and
those who provide it. While ICAN does not directly offer assistive
technology, or tools for living, learning and working, it has built
a statewide network of resources related to assistive devices.
National
Cristina Foundation
(NCF)
provides computer technology and
solutions to give people with disabilities, students at risk and
economically disadvantaged persons the opportunity, through training,
to lead more independent and productive lives. ReBoot is a member of
the NCF Network. RESNA Technical Assistance Project provides technical assistance to the 56 state and territory assistive technology programs as authorized under the Assistive Technology Act of 1998 (P.L. 105-394). Closing The Gap has built a reputation as the leading source for information on innovative applications of computer technology for person with disabilities. The Library contains articles from past issues of Closing The Gap's Newspaper about various topics. Search for hardware or software resources. Georgia Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program This website provides information about a new program in Georgia to provide residents of GA who are deaf and hard of hearing with equipment...there are economic restrictions, however. ScreenReader is a user-friendly utility tool bar, which allows your PC to read text in any windows based application. This site provides a free demo for you to try out. WordSmith v2.0. is an additional toolbar for Word 97/2000/XP. It combines the functionality of Word with the literacy support synonymous with textHELP!products. Read and Write can be used with word processors, spreadsheets, databases, email and Internet to provide speech, spell checking, word prediction, and more. Type & Talk (for PC & Mac) is a highly regarded flexible educational word processor. JAWS® for Windows® provides speech technology that works with the Windows operating system to access popular software applications and the Internet. This site provides a free demo for you to try out.
