Your Old
Computer Can Give New Life!
Donate it to ReBoot!
We have “ReBooted” over 4950 systems for People with disAbilities!
ReBoot
is a nonprofit, statewide, collaborative effort of many groups and
organizations committed to recycling computers for people with
disabilities. Some of our core partners are Tools for Life - Georgia's
Tech Act Project, The National Cristina Foundation, Touch the Future,
Inc., and Friends of Disabled Adults and Children. We are dedicated to
actively promoting independence for people with disabilities through
our efforts.
ReBoot acquires
the equipment, evaluates it, repairs it (if needed), loads licensed
software, distributes the equipment to people with disabilities, and
trains the person on the equipment. Any items we cannot use we will
scrap & the money raised will go directly into helping us serve more
people. We have 6 ReBoot Training Centers located around the state. We
are operated 85% by dedicated volunteers - by people with
disabilities, for people with disabilities.

ReBoot Builds
ADA Workstations
ReBoot has
developed a completely integrated full compliance workstation which
answers ADA requirements for reasonable accommodations. Our ADA
workstations solve hardware compatibility issues. ReBoot’s ADA
workstations meet the needs of individual employees with one or more
disabilities, and of multiple employees with varying disabilities who
use the same workstation. Our workstations can also be configured to
address the unique needs of your library, special-needs laboratory or
vocational setting.

Everyone Wins with ReBoot!
“Everyone wins
with ReBoot!” one of our corporate donors proclaimed after setting up
her next shipment of computer equipment. She explained, “Not only do
we get to clean out our desks and closets of our older equipment, but,
we get a tax deduction, we save the environment, volunteers get to
learn about computer evaluation and repair, and People with
disAbilities receive darn good computer equipment. What an idea!”
We
agree. Thanks to our donors, partners, volunteers, and
participant/volunteers, these people are using ReBoot computers:
-
a young
man in Macon is using a laptop attached to his wheelchair to
communicate with his teachers, friends and family;
-
a twelve
year old who is blind in Forest Park, is using a computer with
screen reading software to complete school work;
-
a woman
in Savannah is now able to find the most up-dated information
about her rare disease from the internet;
-
a
literacy center in south Georgia is now using computers to teach
people with learning disabilities how to read; and
-
a
43-year-old man with brain cancer was granted his wish to have a
computer that he could use to write letters to his friends and
family.
Behind every
computer re-utilized through ReBoot there is a wish granted, a goal
met, and a story to be shared. From donor to participant and everyone
in between - we all are winners indeed.
Make your
equipment donation before the end of the year to ReBoot to receive
your 2002 tax deduction. We have had a Very Successful Year. ReBoot
has recycled over 4,900 computers for People with disAbilities. We are
growing rapidly and are now accepting a wide range of electronic
equipment including cell phones! (I have included a list of all the
equipment we are accepting below.)
Thank You for
Helping ReBoot Help People with disAbilities...Psst! - Please, let
others know about ReBoot!
