PRIVACY
The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL)
respects the privacy of visitors to its web sites. This Privacy
Policy governs use and collection of information from this web site.
Information Collected
If you visit a GDOL web site, some or all of the following
information may be collected:
- domain name used to access the Internet;
- IP address used to access our site;
- type of browser and operating system used to access our site;
- Internet address of the web site from which you linked directly to
our site;
- pages you visit within our site; and
- links made to other web sites through the portal.
- Information is collected for statistical purposes and for
evaluating the web site to make it more useful to visitors. This
information is not collected for commercial marketing purposes and
is not shared with outside agencies.
If you voluntarily provide personally identifiable information
during a visit to our site, we will collect such information.
Examples of personally identifiable information may include:
- your name, address, and/or phone number;
- e-mail address, if you are communicating to us through e-mail;
- information you voluntarily submit to the GDOL for the purposes of
completing or submitting an application or form online;

In general, the information collected,

you send us. Information is retained and used in accordance with
existing laws, rules, regulations, and other policies.
Information Disclosure
As a general rule, we will not disclose any personally identifiable
information collected online to entities outside of State of Georgia
departments and agencies except where you have given permission, or
where sharing such information is consistent with and necessary for
providing a service request by you, or where the information is
considered public information under the Georgia Open Records Act
O.C.G.A. 50-18-70 et seq., or other applicable laws, or where
required by law. Visitors should be aware that information collected
through the GDOL web site may be subject to examination and
inspection, if such information is a public record or not otherwise
protected from disclosure.
Minimum Browser Requirements
The minimum browser requirement to access GDOL online applications
is Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher or Netscape Navigator
4.5 or higher. Javascript must be enabled to use some GDOL
applications.
Access to secured GDOL online transactions requires a browser with
domestic-grade encryption or 128-bit encryption. Most available
browsers support 128-bit encryption and provide the download to
update their browser from their respective Web sites.
US export regulations allow the export of 128 bit encryption enabled
browsers and upgrades for 40 bit browsers to most countries except
those under U.S. export restrictions. For more information on these
regulations please refer to the Bureau of Export Administration, a
branch of the U.S. Department of Commerce that regulates exports
through the Export Administration Regulations.
Cookies
Cookies are simple text files stored by your web browser that
provide a method of distinguishing among visitors to the web sites.
Cookies created on your computer by using our web sites do not
contain personally identifiable information and do not compromise
your privacy or security.
The GDOL web site requires "cookies" for online applications to
ensure identification for added security. In most cases, this
information is temporary in nature (called session cookies) and is
deleted as soon as you leave the GDOL web site or close your
browser.
Security
For various services requiring online transmittal of private
information, the GDOL uses the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption
protocol to safeguard your sensitive personal information.
Information is encrypted from your computer to the GDOL server
processing your request.
To further secure your privacy, do not divulge any personal
identification numbers or passwords or sensitive information (e.g.
social security number) to anyone in a phone call or e-mail. When
finished with applications that are password protected or require
the input of your personal information, it is always recommended
that you close or otherwise exit all instances of your browser.
