Getting Started
What is Dollars and Sense? How Can I Use It?
This database is for use by
individuals with disabilities, their families, advocates,
and service providers. It lets the user obtain a list of
current funding sources and service providers that match the
user's individual assistive technology funding needs.
This guide describes both possible funding sources and
strategies to obtain funding for assistive technology from
these sources. It is well-organized and designed to be
simple to use. It is our hope that Dollars & Sense will be
used to help individuals understand programs and to assist
them in identifying potential funding sources. Please share
your experiences with us and with others.
Tools for Life, funded under the Assistive Technology Act of
1998 (update Tech Act) is designed to make assistive
technology devices and services more available and
accessible to ALL Georgians with disabilities. Dollars &
Sense was produced as part of this effort.
We are indebted to the following individuals for their work
on earlier editions of this Guide: Mike Weeks (Production
Manager, First and Second Edition); Pamela D. Smith, Ed.D.
(Consultant and Primary Author, First Edition); and Betsy
Presley (Policy Analyst/Funding Specialist, First Edition).
