Involve the employer with accommodations and use of AT as much as possible.

Conduct a thorough exit interview to help ensure that the consumer understands their responsibilities.

Can the employer or consumer solve any technology concerns that may arise?

If continuing technology-related problems are identified, arrange with AWT to provide follow-up.

Although post-employment needs will focus primarily on employment and worksite needs, it is possible that needs could arise in other environments.
  

Action Needed:

  • Include discussions about any AWT involvement or accommodations that have been provided in the exit interview.

  • If ongoing technology-related problems are expected, arrange for appropriate AWT involvement through post-employment.

Action Recommended:

  • Arrange for AWT consultation for employers that are willing to make additional accommodations.

  • For technology-related requests that are beyond the scope of DRS services, recommend other sources of support whenever possible.
